Transportation
All children are collected from their school by their own, familiar Plukkebol employees. During the holidays we go outside as much as possible. We have different kinds of transportation we can use for these trips.
The Stint
The Stint is an electric cart that was specially designed to transport children aged between four and twelve years old. The cart seats up to ten children and has a safety belt for every child. It is allowed on cycle paths and goes as fast as a slow cyclist, about 15 kilometres per hour. Plukkebol has six Stints. Not only is travelling by Stint fun, but the driver can see both the road and the children clearly. Safely inside the Stint, the children can chat away to their hearts’ content. During the holidays the Stint is used for trips with the children to, for instance, the Delftse Hout or the swimming pool.
Plukkebol car
Plukkebol has two Fiat Doblos, which both transport up to six children and are very convenient for longer trips.
Walking
Whenever possible, we collect the children from schools that are located near the Plukkebol out-of-school care by foot.
Cycling
We also have a bicycle available which can be used by an employee to pick up a child from school. The bicycle has one child seat. If necessary, other children can cycle along on their own bikes.
Children are allowed to cycle from school on their own bike in the company of an employee if:
- they are above seven years of age;
- they are proficient cyclists and have practiced with their parents;
- their parents give their consent;
- they wear a fluorescent vest (Plukkebol will provide these);
- the educational employee has given them proper instructions. The employee and the children discuss the time they will leave school, traffic safety and the route they will follow;
- the child’s bike complies with all safety requirements such as a working bicycle bell, functioning brakes and lights (front and back), pedals with adequate grip and reflectors;
- an employee is available to accompany the children at the required time.
Additional information on accompanied cycling:
- The location manager or assistant location manager has a list of the routes that are suitable for cycling, so please feel free to ask about the options.
- Depending on the route and the children, we will decide the ratio of children to employee. In all events there will never be more than five children per employee.
- The employee will either accompany the children on the Stint or on a bicycle. If there is one Stint the children will cycle in front of the employee and if there is more than one Stint the children will cycle between the Stints. If the employee is on a bicycle, the children will cycle in front of the employee (or one child on the right side of the employee). If there is more than one employee, one will be in front of the children and the other will be at the back.
Children will be allowed to cycle from school without an employee if:
- they are older than nine years of age;
- they are proficient cyclists and have practiced with their parents;
- their parents give their consent;
- they wear a fluorescent vest (Plukkebol will provide these);
- the educational employee has given them proper instructions. The employee and the children discuss the time they will leave school, traffic safety and the route they will follow;
- the child’s bike complies with all safety requirements such as a working bicycle bell, functioning brakes and lights (front and back), pedals with adequate grip and reflectors.
Public transport
Some trips, such as going to Schiphol Airport to watch the planes take off or a visit to Scheveningen beach are done by public transport. Plukkebol will provide the OV chip cards for the children.
